This site is here for the purpose of finding a kidney for my father, Lennie Singer. Dad is suffering from stage 4 kidney disease and is in desperate need of a kidney transplant. He is a special person, and by the time you finish reading this, I hope
you will agree.
My dad recently celebrated his 75th birthday. Unlike many who are
seeking kidneys, he is somewhat older than most, and therefore, able to
accept a kidney donation from someone older than the standard donor.
Don't get me wrong, a donation from a younger person would be wonderful too!
My dad is a person who has always sacrificed and put his family before
himself. He spent many years working two jobs, so that he could give the
family a nice life, including putting his wife and two children through
college and providing his family an annual vacation. He has never been
extravagant or showy in the things he buys for himself. In fact, other
than an occasional new pair of sneakers, he rarely buys anything for
himself.
Dad started his working career in the Air Force, and later spent
countless weekends (for many years) serving the National Guard. Not only
did this provide a valuable service to the country, all of this hard
work was designed to provide a better life for our family. And it did!
Not only that, he has always donated time and money for charitable
causes. Dad has also served on volunteer boards of directors of some of
these organizations. At present, he serves as a volunteer trustee for a
disabled relative. And a couple of years ago, he went about 400 miles
from home and spent a week cleaning and rehabilitating this relative's
apartment.
My dad has always been vibrant and active. He is somewhat of a sports
nut. He got into college on a football scholarship and years later,
occasionally took time out to play basketball, softball or tennis. Until
very recently, he played racquetball every week.
In 2008, my parents will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. They
have two children (including myself) and four granddaughters who mean
the world to them. Likewise, Lennie and Simi mean the world to all of
us! My dad wants to be around to share life experiences with us for as
long as possible.
Due to the marvels of modern medicine, people can live long and normal
lives with a single kidney. My generous and selfless father, who has
never asked anyone for help, now needs the assistance of another caring
individual willing to donate a kidney. Obviously, that's asking a lot.
The donor has to be healthy and will have to undergo some testing to
assure compatibility. Of course, there will be no cost or expense to the
donor. If you – or someone you know – is willing to offer this gift of
life to another wonderful person, please let me know without delay.
Thanks for taking the time to read this.
